Standing desks have been gaining popularity for many years now. But since the pandemic and the larger movement to work from home, they have become an increasingly hot item.
Health experts have been a big proponent of these for quite some time, but it did take years to reach critical mass. Sitting for hours a day is just a bad situation for our health and well-being. To make matters worse, we often work at a desk with poor ergonomics which causes longer term issues.
A few years ago, I stepped into the fray and purchased a Varidesk. They were a pioneer in this area, with well-made product. The Varidesk does adjust manually at different heights.
Today we have a plethora of options for standing desks. I needed a second workspace in my home office and started looking for something highly adjustable. Most of my day is spent standing by default, but there are times when longer video meetings are just more comfortable while sitting. Flexibility is key.
When looking at the many products on the market, I wanted a quality product at the best possible value. Many standing desks are available today, with a large span of price ranges. Finally settled on buying a motorized frame, then sourcing a desktop separately. This was the frame I decided on from Topsky:
This Topsky frame has a very strong motor, with presets. Thus far I’m very pleased with it. You can find it on Amazon.
Then for the top, I wanted something inexpensive but progressive in styling. After evaluating many options, this Ikea top was my choice.
At the end of the day, it makes for a flexible work station giving you ideal ergonomics.
